Begin with a topic, not identifying details
Try a question about a film, a hobby or something you learned today. You can discuss a city in general without naming your address, school, employer or daily route. Choose the detail level you are comfortable having copied.
A person’s displayed age or gender is profile information, not verified identity. Gradual friendliness, shared interests and a familiar story do not prove ownership of a photo or the truth of a request.
Recognize pressure before responding
Requests that combine urgency, secrecy and a personal favor deserve a pause. Examples include “send money now and do not tell anyone”, “paste your recovery code so I can fix this” or “send a private image to prove you trust me”. You do not owe a stranger any of these actions.
Do not send money, credentials or sensitive files to resolve pressure inside a chat. A moderator or AI client does not need your recovery code. Use the site’s own account controls and contact page rather than a support link sent by another user.
Check links and media requests
Read the destination domain before opening a link. A familiar word in the page title or path does not prove it is the real service. Do not download software or enter a recovery code because a new acquaintance says it is necessary to continue talking.
In random chat, media unlocks only after both people have spoken and more than 10 text messages have been sent in total. This is a feature threshold, not a trust check. You can still refuse a picture, recording or request to move to another app after media becomes available.
Leave with a clear next step
For an uncomfortable but non-violating exchange, end the conversation or decline the friend request. For harassment or fraud, report the relevant item and block the account. You do not need to win an argument or keep engaging to justify leaving.
If you choose to stay in touch, share a friend invitation only with its intended recipient. Reset it if it spreads beyond that audience. If a situation involves an immediate real-world threat, use appropriate local emergency or support services rather than waiting for a site response.
